Bouvia- Poster- Post 7

I think this is a great poster. First you get the picture of Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet, then your eye travels down to the actual ship, finally to the names of the actors and the title of the film. It’s interesting to look at. The ship looks like it splits the poster in half, creating a divide between DiCaprio and Winslet (which is appropriate for the movie). The colors are also interesting because the are warm in the picture of the actors, note Winslet’s warm hair and dress color. Yet the ship and the sky around the ship are cold colors, dark, blues and black. It’s rather ominous, which again, is appropriate for the film.  I think this poster is well done, it draws your eyes to all of the necessary points on the poster and is still visually appealing.

  1. I think this is definitely a movie poster design that everyone remembers. I really like that it features the ship, along with the two main characters. They could have easily made a poster with just Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet to draw people in, but the ship is such an important aspect of the film and really adds an ominous tone to the poster. I also really like the typeface used for “TITANIC” and how they incorporated an aspect of the ship into it. I agree with what you said about the ship separating them and it makes sense with the tag line, “Nothing on Earth could come between them.” Overall, I think this is a very effective movie poster.
